Staggering numbers:
2,970 deaths
In 2024, 2,970 people died from a drug overdose in Washington State. (These statistics are preliminary and were provided by the Washington Department of Health).
Overdoses decreased:
14% fewer
The number of overdose deaths in Washington State decreased by 14% from 2023 to 2024.
The driving factor is fentanyl:
73%
Roughly 73% of Washington State overdose deaths involved fentanyl in 2024. The second highest contributor was methamphetamine.
